Castor Oil (EXTERNAL USE ONLY)
What it is
Skin Gourmet Castor Oil is 100% pure Ricinus communis seed oil, virgin and cold pressed, absolutely nothing else added. It’s a thick, high-performance oil that’s especially loved for hair, scalp, brows, lashes, and any patch of skin that needs serious comfort and staying power.
Not beaver oil, castor oil, we said what we said.
Why it works for skin and hair (the “how,” not hype)
It’s rich in ricinoleic acid, the signature fatty acid in castor oil, which has documented anti-inflammatory activity in experimental models, that’s part of why it feels so soothing when skin is dry or uncomfortable.
It seals in moisture: castor oil behaves like an occlusive, meaning it forms a barrier that helps reduce water loss from the skin, so skin stays softer for longer.
Hair and scalp love the texture: that thickness is the point, it grips, coats, and protects, which helps reduce dryness-related breakage and supports a healthier-looking scalp environment.
Purifying reputation: castor oil is discussed for antimicrobial potential, and in real life the big win is that it helps keep the scalp and skin feeling protected and balanced.
How it can be for all skin types, honestly
This works across skin types because you control placement. Oily or acne-prone skin usually prefers castor oil as a spot product (dry patches, lips, brows) rather than an all-over face oil. Dry skin can use more freely.
How it’s made
Handmade in Ghana. Virgin and cold pressed, pure oil, no fillers, no fragrance, no preservatives.
Tip
Warm 1 to 2 drops between your fingertips before applying, castor oil is thick by design. In cooler temperatures it may become more viscous and lighter in colour because it’s 100% natural, just warm the bottle in your hands. Keep it closed when not in use, store in a cool, dry place away from water, and refrigerate for long life.
This is an edible oil, but it’s also famously used as a strong laxative when taken by mouth, so if you choose to consume it, use caution and keep quantities very small.
Chale, a small drop gets you big results.
