Some oils are light and disappear. Avocado oil is the rich one, the oil you reach for when your skin is properly dry, tight, or stressed and a thin oil just isn’t enough. The clever part is that ours is deeply moisturising without leaving you greasy, which is rarer than it sounds. And because it’s pure and edible, the same bottle works on your salad.
One ingredient: cold-pressed avocado oil, nothing else added.

Why avocado oil is the rich one
Avocado oil is high in fatty acids that soften and comfort skin, and it feels more cushiony than lighter oils like hemp or grapeseed. That’s what makes it a good match for dry and mature skin. It supports the skin barrier, and a well-moisturised barrier is what gives skin that smoother, bouncier look. The trick to keeping it from feeling heavy is simple: use less than you think, and apply it to slightly damp skin so it spreads and sinks in instead of sitting on top.
It’s a moisturiser, not a fix for a specific condition. What it does well is keep dry skin comfortable and soft, day after day.
What it’s good for
- Dry skin: massage a few drops into damp skin, face or body. Dry skin can use it freely; oily or combination skin can use a couple of drops on the dry zones only.
- Hair: smooth a little through lengths and ends for softness and shine, or use a small amount as a pre-wash scalp treatment and shampoo out.
- After sun: a thin layer on clean, damp skin helps calm skin that feels dry and stressed. It doesn’t replace sunscreen, it just comforts skin afterwards.
Good for kids who hate feeling greasy
This is the reason it’s my own favourite. Plenty of kids can’t stand the feeling of a heavy oil sitting on their skin, and honestly, fair enough. Avocado oil absorbs clean when you use a little on damp skin, so it moisturises without that slick, sticky film they’ll try to wipe straight off. If greasiness is the fight in your house, this is the oil that tends to win it. As with anything new, patch test a small area first.
The Skin Gourmet difference: it’s food too
This is a genuine edible oil, not a cosmetic version. Avocado oil is high in monounsaturated fats, the same heart-friendly kind used in good cooking oils, and it’s lovely as a finishing drizzle over food or in a salad dressing. One sensible rule: eat it or wear it, but don’t double-dip. Use clean hands or pour it out for skin, and keep a portion for the kitchen, so you’re never dipping fingers back into oil you’ll later cook with. Same pure oil, two jobs.
A care note
Because it’s 100% natural with nothing added, avocado oil thickens and turns lighter in colour when it’s cool. That’s normal, warm the bottle in your hands before use. Keep it closed, store it somewhere cool and dry, and refrigerate it if you want it to last longer.
