Raw Coffee & Mint Black Soap (EXTERNAL USE ONLY)
What it is
Skin Gourmet Raw Coffee and Mint African Black Soap Bar is a traditional Ghanaian black soap bar made from cocoa pod ash, palm kernel oil, raw shea butter, peppermint essential oil, and raw Ghana coffee, nothing else. It’s a deep cleanse plus gentle exfoliation in one bar, with a minty finish that makes skin feel refreshed and properly awake.
Why it works for skin (the “how,” not hype)
Cocoa pod ash provides the natural alkaline base that helps lift away oil, sweat, and daily buildup.
Palm kernel oil creates a strong, effective lather, which is why black soap feels like it actually cleans.
Raw shea butter helps cushion the cleanse with a more comfortable, conditioned skin feel.
Raw Ghana coffee granules add gentle physical exfoliation, helping buff away dull, rough-feeling surface buildup so skin looks smoother and feels cleaner.
Peppermint essential oil adds that cool, refreshed sensation and clean mint aroma, giving the bar its “fresh start” vibe.
What to know about pH (the grown-up part)
Traditional black soap is typically alkaline, which is one reason it cleans so well. The flip side is that if you overuse an alkaline cleanser, some skin types can feel dry, tight, or a bit “stripped,” because the skin barrier prefers a slightly acidic environment. Translation: this bar is powerful, so use the amount and frequency that suits your skin, rinse well, and moisturize after, especially if you’re dry-leaning.
Who it’s for (keeping it honest)
This bar is best for normal, combination, and oily skin, and for anyone who loves a cleanser that also exfoliates. Because it contains physical exfoliating coffee granules, go easy if you’re sensitive, inflamed, or actively irritated, and keep exfoliating use to a few times a week.
How it’s made and where it’s from
Handmade in Ghana using the traditional black soap method, where cocoa pod ash and oils come together through saponification to create real soap. Our black soap comes from the Eastern Region of Ghana, Kukurantumi. The coffee in this bar is raw Ghana coffee sourced from Akropong in the Eastern Region, from Asili Coffee, and it’s included as real granules to give you genuine exfoliation.
Tip
This bar is intentionally big, cut what you need and store the rest, your future self will thank you. Do not keep it in water, and avoid leaving it in a humid spot, because black soap can soften and lose its shape over time. This coffee bar softens even faster if stored in warm, damp areas, because coffee naturally contains oils, so keep it in a cool, dry place away from water, or cut off a piece for daily use and refrigerate the rest. Because it’s a real soap bar with a minimalist recipe and no added water, it’s naturally long-lasting when stored properly, it’ll keep for ages (not literally a thousand years, but close enough to make you feel impressively responsible).
