Why razor bumps happen (and why oil helps)
Razor bumps come from irritation and friction, and from hairs growing back into the skin instead of out of it. Shaving strips the skin’s surface. Then coarse hair regrows through skin that’s dry and tight, which is the perfect setup for redness and those small, angry bumps along the jaw and neck.

Skin Gourmet Beard Oil is a no-filler blend of six things and nothing else: wild shea oil, wild baobab oil, pure castor oil, pure avocado oil, tea tree essential oil, and peppermint essential oil.

The two-step routine that actually helps razor bumps
Oil works better on skin that’s genuinely clean. Sweat and buildup sitting in the beard is part of what irritates the skin under it, so this is two steps, not one.
Step 1: clarify. Wash the beard and the skin under it with our Jabón negro de árbol de té. Tea tree is the ingredient people reach for on problem-prone skin, and this liquid black soap lifts away oil and buildup properly. One honest note. Traditional black soap is alkaline and cleans hard, so use a small amount and don’t overdo it. That’s exactly why step two matters.
Step 2: calm and restore. While the beard is still damp, work a few drops of beard oil in from root to tip. Damp skin first, then oil. That’s how you get fast absorption, better spread, and less heaviness. This is the step that puts comfort back after the cleanse, and it’s the one doing the real work on irritation.
How to use it for razor bumps specifically
- After shaving: apply a few drops to clean skin to calm the look of irritation.
- To help prevent bumps: massage into the beard area after shaving and before bed, so skin recovers overnight.
- On dry spots: work it into flaky patches around the jawline and neck.
- Daily: apply to a damp beard and massage from root to end to keep hair soft and skin calm between shaves.
A few honest notes
This is for external use only, so avoid the eye area. It contains essential oils, so patch test first if your skin is very sensitive. And because it’s fully natural with nothing added to stabilise it, it may thicken and turn lighter in colour when it’s cool. Just warm the bottle in your hands before use.
