Bad breath is one of those things nobody wants to talk about, and almost everyone deals with at some point. The usual fix is a bottle of bright-blue mouthwash full of alcohol and ingredients you can’t pronounce. It stings, it dries out your mouth, and honestly, the dryness can make morning breath worse over time.
There’s a gentler way, and it’s been sitting in kitchens for centuries: cinnamon and honey.
Our Cinnamon & Wild Honey is just two things — raw cassia cinnamon bark and wild northern honey, handmade in Ghana, with absolutely nothing else added. It’s food first (more on that below), but stir a little into warm water and you’ve got a natural mouth rinse that actually earns its place.

Why cinnamon and honey work on breath
Bad breath is usually bacteria doing their thing at the back of your tongue and between your teeth. Both of these ingredients push back on that, naturally:
- Cassia cinnamon is naturally antibacterial and brings that warm, clean, aromatic kick — the “revived” feeling that lingers pleasantly instead of the chemical burn of commercial rinses.
- Wild honey is antibacterial too, and soothing with it. It coats and calms rather than strips, so your mouth doesn’t end up parched the way alcohol rinses leave it.
Together they freshen breath and leave your mouth feeling clean — and because there’s nothing harsh in the jar, there’s no sting and no dried-out aftermath.
How to use it as a mouthwash
- Stir a small amount into a little warm water until it loosens up.
- Swish it around your mouth for about 30 seconds.
- Rinse with plain water afterwards.
That’s it. And here’s the part no drugstore mouthwash can say: it’s completely edible. So if a little goes down while you swish, that’s genuinely fine — this is the same jar you’d stir into your tea. A lot of people find it also soothes a scratchy, early-sore throat for the same reason.
One jar, many uses
The mouthwash trick is almost a side effect. First and foremost, Cinnamon & Wild Honey is a proper Ghanaian pantry staple:
- Stir it into tea, coffee, or a smoothie as a spicy-sweet sweetener.
- Spoon it over pancakes, oats, yogurt, fruit, or toast.
- Try it the Ghana way — skip the milk, mix your coffee with a little lemon and a spoon of Cinnamon & Wild Honey for a bright, spicy-sweet kick.
- Use it in baking when you want that warm cinnamon-honey depth.
It’s made from our raw Wild Northern Honey, sustainably sourced and kept deliberately simple: honey, cinnamon, and nothing else.
A few honest notes
Because it’s 100% natural, it behaves like nature. In cooler weather it may thicken and turn lighter in colour — that’s normal, not a fault. Keep the jar closed when you’re not using it, and don’t let water sit inside (a few stray droplets are fine; standing water isn’t). Stored well, honey keeps for ages, and a spot in the fridge is a smart upgrade for extra freshness. Not recommended for children under one year old, as with all honey.
A natural mouthwash shouldn’t be complicated. Two ingredients, no chemicals, and a jar that pulls its weight in the kitchen too.
